Forms such as the sonnet, pantoum, and sestina may seem anachronistic in the ever-changing world of artistic expression. Ruben Quesada, Ph.D., is the editor of Latinx Poetics: Essays on the Art of Poetry. He is the author of Jane/La Segua, Revelations, Next Extinct Mammal, and Exiled from the Throne of Night, selected translations of Luis Cernuda. His writing appears in Best American Poetry, New York Times, American Poetry Review, Kirkus, Harvard Review, and elsewhere. He teaches in the MFA Program in Creative Writing at Antioch University-Los Angeles and for the UCLA Writers’ Program.
